HopFly Brewing Company opened in South End, Charlotte, in March 2022. We came to set roots in Charlotte, feeding into the local community and reshaping the craft beer game in our style. With the growth that South End has seen in recent years and its close proximity to Uptown (the “downtown” of Charlotte), it seemed a no-brainer to open our brewery and launch our expansion (from Rocky Mount, NC) here.
THE SPACE
Emblazoned with a large “HOPFLY” on the Uptown side of our brewery and large neon sign on the Mint St. side, HopFly sits at the top end of the Gold District. Our space consists of two floors, both of which have multiple taps of the delicious IPAs and lagers that you have come to crave from us.
Entering the brewery from Mint St, you walk through our large patio area with picnic tables and through our two large doors, welcoming you inside. The bar is at the back, drawing you in, through a spacious open layout with plenty of high-top and low-top community tables for you and your friends. This is a place to feel at home, to enjoy time with old friends while making new ones. So, drop into the couch by the garage door and watch the game on the TVs. Sit on the patio and gobble up some Katsu Kart outside. Or go up the stairs on the left-hand side of the taproom, and chill on the second floor.
The second floor, called The Loft, features both a rooftop bar capturing views of the amazing city skyline and inner space where you can vibe to the music while sitting in the wicker chairs looking out the bay windows, people watching. The Loft is perfect for private events and has played host to office parties, birthday parties, watch parties, and much more. (Interested in having your event here? This is a community space, and all are welcome, even your four-legged friends! We are dedicated to providing a great environment with great vibes, great service, and great beer. Always. Come enjoy all of it and help us continue spreading the positivity in all ways, always!

Wait! Charlotte is a sports town, right? With three major-league teams—the Hornets, the Panthers, and Charlotte FC—and minor-league sides for baseball, soccer, and hockey (Charlotte Knights, Charlotte Independence, and the Charlotte Checkers), yes, you could say its a sports town! We didn’t even mention the NCAA sports or PGA tour.
HopFly is the perfect spot for taking all of them in. Whether for tailgating, rendezvousing, or watching, we have you covered. Mere minutes from Bank of America Stadium, during the NFL and MLS seasons, you can get yourself hyped and ready for the game here. We are open before the games for epic tailgating and glorious pre-gaming. After the games, we’re here for your post-game drinks, whether to celebrate or commiserate. And don’t forget, we are there during the games, too! Our TVs will be showcasing your favorite team crashing into the endzone or ripping a hole in the net.
And if basketball is your thing, we are a Lynx-ride away from that! What’s Lynx? That’s the train that splits Charlotte from University to LoSo. But more importantly for you, my NBA-lover, Bland Station is right around the corner from us, and it is a quick 5-minute ride to CTC/Arena Station where you can walk right into Spectrum Center to cheer on your Hornets to that dub!

Hell yes.
Do you have food?
Yes. We have Katsu Kart at HopFly, a dedicated food truck that starts serving at 4PM on most days. They offer up amazing Japanese street and comfort foods using a classic techniques mixed with creative and fun ideas.
